This Moment: In the Workplace

We’ve been talking a lot about experiences lately. Instead, let’s talk about what God has for you in the moment. Whatever situation you are in or wherever you are at right now, you are in the right place at the right time. God has placed you in this moment, in this place, in this job, in this season, in this friendship, in this relationship status for a reason. Everything that is happening right now is for a bigger purpose.

So if this moment is for you, how can you recognize everything God is trying to teach you? How can you make the best out of your current situation?

Let’s break it down into four categories. We have your workplace, relationships, stage of life, and your mental health. Today let’s focus on your workplace and we will dive into the other three topics within the following weeks.

So maybe you like your job, or maybe you don’t. You might even be unemployed at the moment. Whatever job season you are in, ask yourself what you can learn from it. If you don’t have a job right now, maybe God is trying to pull you into a new area. Maybe you need to start applying for jobs in which you were called rather than what you are used to. But while that’s happening, sometimes unemployment can be a beneficial thing. Now that you have more time on your hands, perhaps God is trying to shift your focus onto trusting in Him or even giving you this time to spend with your family. If you are stuck with a job you dislike, perhaps try looking for what you can appreciate about it. There is always a positive in any negative situation. You just have to search for it. This could be a good time for you to learn to focus on what’s going right instead of focusing on what’s going wrong or focusing on what could be. If you love your job, don’t just stop there but do what you can to help others around you. Your work situation might not need the entirety of your focus, so shift it onto helping others and grow from them while they grow from you. And thank God for being placed in a happy situation! Whatever your workplace looks like, try to grow from it. If you look for areas of growth and outreach, you will start to see a shift of finding the positive in the moment.

I don’t know what God is trying to teach you right now. But I want to encourage you to focus on your workplace this week and try to find an area of growth. If God placed you in this job or in this season of unemployment for a reason, what is He trying to teach you? And how is what you choose to do with this moment going to influence your tomorrow?
