Sometimes we need to re-shape how we are viewing change. While we are in the middle of it, it can seem overwhelming or like the transition is being drawn out. But one thing I’ve learned from periods of transition is that as hard as it is to end things, new things are also being planted. The end of one thing is the beginning of something new.
I had a lot of things end this past week. I just graduated from High School which feels weird because I’m still going to College (through a program called running start). I played my final soccer game after playing for fifteen consecutive years. And I graduated from my youth group. It’s hard to see a lot of good things end. But I also know a lot of good things are about to begin.
When seasons end, it can be really hard. As important as it is to recognize that certain activities or seasons of life are ending, it’s also important to look ahead and realize how much there is still to come.
Even if you don’t know what’s coming next, know that this is a chance for growth and a chance for new beginnings. There is so much good in this next season because despite what might happen and what you will have to leave behind, each season is going to grow you.
Reflect and ask yourself: Why is change good? How can I utilize this next season of life to grow myself? How can I deal with feelings of sadness as things end?
