Poetry: Overwhelmed

This is the sonnet I wrote for my tenth grade Language Arts class:

Cloud of suffocating darkness descends,

Her mind clouds with memories of faces.

Time standing still trying hard to amend;

Network of strings strategically placed.

Symphony of chaos makes her head pound.

Through the dark there is a flame, shining bright.

Sight reveals deeply and the sound unwound.

Percussion fills the space around with light.

An inkling of hope travels through the air.

Wandering feelings expressed with deep care.

Recite the poem that she knows is there.

Her mind unclouds with a breath of fresh air.

Through the hurt and through it all she felt calm,

For she has known who she was all along.
