Do you ever feel like the trials just keep coming? That you never have a break before another bad thing happens? I want to remind you of three important facts that you can carry with you as you overcome the trials set before you in life.
1: Jesus went through it first.
One way to view your trials is to recognize that Jesus went through them first. Everything you’re walking through and everything you will go through in the future has been gone through before. Jesus experienced all of your trials. If Jesus can get through it, so can you. You might not think you’re as strong as Jesus and that you can’t get through it. But remember, Jesus was made human. He walked through the pain, fear, and anxiety you are feeling. God made him both God and human and that human part of him felt it all. As Jesus was forced to carry the cross, He carried every trial you and I will ever have to walk through. He went before you and paved a way. There is a path through your trials and there is an end in sight.
2: The more trials we face, the more we become like Jesus.
The more we walk through, the more our character grows, and the more our character grows, the more we become closer to leading a Holy life. If Jesus experienced every trial, then the more trials we face, the more we have in common with Jesus. It’s a good thing that Satin’s actively coming against you in your life because it must mean you’re doing something really good and that’s why he’s trying desperately to stop you. So don’t give up hope because the more you face, the more you grow.
3: We never have to walk through anything alone.
Have you ever heard the Bible story about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Daniel 3:19-30)? When the three men were thrown into a fiery furnace for refusing to bow to an idol, a fourth person was seen in the inferno. There was another one in the fire. God went with them. He didn’t let them endure the flames alone and instead He sent Jesus to protect them.
The same can be said for our trials. When we go through something, God is right there with us. We will never endure anything alone. God goes before us, He moves with us, and He’s always there, ever-present (Isaiah 53:3-12).
