How do you feel about this statement? : We only see the beginning and the end.
We know where we came from because we all have a past. And for most of us, we have a dream of where we want to end up. However, we have no middle. We don’t know what’s next or what it will take to get to our end goal.
I was looking at this beautiful rainbow that was missing its center and thought about what I knew. You see, as writers, we write what we know. I know that God sent a rainbow as a sign of His promise (Genesis 9:13-16). I know that we all have a past and that most of us have a dream for what our future will look like. But we don’t know what each day will look like in-between the present and our future. We don’t know, but God knows. So this revelation brought me to this question: How can I trust a rainbow?
You see if the rainbow is a sign of God’s promise to us, then how can I have faith in His promise that He will lead me to my dreams? How can I trust the rainbow?
This question brought me back to a familiar saying: we have to pick up and carry our cross daily. We have to die to our old ways and choose to carry our cross.
You see, we can trust the rainbow when we trust that God has us. We need to choose God day after day. God remembers His promise to you. He remembers His promise of protection that “never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood” (Genesis 9:11). A rainbow is a sign of hope. A sign that God will protect you every single day. We can trust God’s promise of protection because of what we have seen. He has always been faithful and He always will be. God always comes through.
We may not see the middle of life. We may only see the beginning and we have a glimpse of what we want the end to be. But God will protect you as you navigate the middle because He made a promise to protect you. So start your day by choosing God and carrying your cross, and remember you wield the power of God’s protective blessing. So trust the rainbow.
Great post! It reminded me of Corrie ten Boom’s poem “Life is but a Weaving”.
