If there’s one thing I’ve learned from my first quarter of in-person college it’s that the world is a really dark place. The world will try to tear you down and strip you of everything that’s good. But just because there’s a lot of bad, doesn’t mean you have to get sucked into it. You can choose to be the spark that stands out.
Instead of choosing to look at the negative, find the positive. Make yourself laugh and find joy in any situation. It’s up to you. Only you can make your life a happy one.
Have you ever tried starting a fire? With the right elements and materials it can be really easy. But if it’s raining or if you don’t have any materials gathered to start a fire, it can be really really hard. I think finding positivity can be similar. When we are surrounded by positive people and we have hope in life, it’s like we are using a lighter and our joy is easier to achieve. But when we’re isolated and all we see is the negativity, we feel unprepared and can’t even make a spark.
For those of us that are in a good place and can make a spark, do so. We need to spread some positivity to those that are struggling. Smile at someone, hold the door, make someone laugh, compliment them. Be a spark in someone’s life so that they can go and do the same for someone else. That’s how we get a wildfire moving.
Choosing to focus on the positivity is not only helpful for your own wellbeing but for other people. There’s already enough negativity in the world, so why be negative? Use what you have to create a spark.
If you continually foster that spark and seek out the good in life, that spark will turn into a flame and that flame will overrun your life. That’s the secret to finding happiness.
You are so right!!! This is an area of my life I really, really need to work on. ThAnks for the reminder.
